Our Mission:
  • Empower individuals impacted by the justice system to utilize the transformative power of music and the arts to promote personal growth, emotional healing and social reintegration while simultaneously reducing recidivism. Through creative expression, life skills development, and community-building, R.E.A.L. provides a platform for individuals to rebuild their lives, discover their potential, breaking cycles of negative thoughts & actions.
Our Vision:
A world where the intersection of arts and rehabilitation creates lasting change for individuals affected by the justice system. The R.E.A.L. Music Program cultivates an environment where ALL individuals, regardless of their past, have the opportunity to heal, learn, and thrive. By harnessing the power of music and creativity, we intend to inspire a future of hope, self-reliance, and opportunity.

Supporting Our Communities

Guitars From The Heart is our way of paying it forward to our neighbors and communites around the nation. We lead by example and teach R.E.A.L. Music Program students the value of this outreach.

Our Strategy

The R.E.A.L. Music Program was created and implemented at Avenal State Prison in California, where it provides incarcerated individuals with a unique opportunity to express themselves, build life skills, and work toward personal transformation through music and the arts. The curriculum is designed to foster emotional healing, teach accountability, and equip participants with the skills they need to personally thrive during their present circumstances and after their release.
Looking to the future, R.E.A.L. Music Program is expanding its reach. We are committed to extending our program to other correctional institutions and community-based initiatives, providing at-risk individuals, as well as those on parole or probation, with access to the life-changing benefits of creative expression and rehabilitation. Through music, we teach skills and provide tools to break down the barriers that contribute to recidivism and build pathways to a brighter, more hopeful future.
At R.E.A.L. we believe that everyone deserves a chance to rebuild their lives, discover their potential, and contribute positively to society. By elevating individuals through the arts, we are helping to create a world where personal transformation is possible, and where the cycle of incarceration is replaced by opportunity, growth, and reintegration with family, friends and the community at large. R.E.A.L. programs are our outreach to help others recognize, express and process traumas all of us have collectively experienced.
