R.E.A.L. Song Writing Program
The program is designed to enable students to safely explore emotional pain that has been buried deep inside
Repressed and avoided past experiences may include the reasons for the student's own incarceration and can be explored and expressed
The R.E.A.L. course process can break down mental blocks so that reconnection to lost and damaged relationships can be established
Students will learn to identify and explore their negative beliefs, actions and experiences
Participants can transition and transform their previous mind set into positive and inspirational patterns of thinking.
The program is a course of study in songwriting, performing and recording music to recognize, express and process their past traumas
R.E.A.L. Guitars From The Heart
Communities all around our nation are in need of donated musical instruments and equipment to help their students learn, grow, and explore on their path of musical expression
More than just guitars, musical instruments and equipment of all types are in need. Your donations, volunteering, and fundraising all facilitate this program and help us meet some of those needs
Podcast
Our podcast is still in development.
It is intended to be a conversational deep dive into the REAL Music Program and its ongoing activities.
Guests will include instructors, participants, active and retired correctional staff and mental health professionals.
Music Technology Use
Technical skills are taught in the use of various forms of music technology
Beside the individual instruments each participant plays, course curriculum teaches using live sound equipment and studio recording equipment
Marketable skill sets are taught through hands on demonstration and daily application by students
Instrument Maintenance
- How to tune a drum set
- How to change stings on guitar/bass guitar
- Tuners and intonation adjustments for stringed instruments
- Environmental and mechanical factors that effect stringed instruments
- What are amplifier tubes and how / when to change them

Life Skills & Personal Development Training
The REAL Music Program aims to address emotional, psychological, and social needs while teaching musical skills. The music can act as a medium for self-expression, emotional regulation, and community building, while the rehabilitation aspect can focus on personal growth, accountability, and life skills.
